We spent a lot of time the first week of school talking about how to treat others. I read the book Chrysanthemum to the class about a mouse who is teased because of her name. Everytime she was teased, we wrinkled the heart. We discussed how it made Chrysanthemum feel and we pledged to say kind words to one another. I know this class will do an awesome job of respecting one another!
Wow! I am always amazed at how quickly summer passes and how my to do list at home didn't quite get completed! I always have great intentions, but somehow other things seem to take priority. This summer I spent a large part of my time finishing one graduate class and then taking two more. Even though spending time finshing assignments can seem overwhelming at times, I love it when I finish a class with many fresh ideas to try in my own classroom! I am glad to say though that I did get to relax some this summer when I took a wonderful vacation to Pensacola Beach with my daughter and cousins and then on the way back spent two days in Nashville, Tennessee! I always love spending the day at the beach, listening to the waves and looking for unique seashells.
I am hoping your children are excited about beginning second grade! I know I am thrilled to be their teacher. There is no other job that I would rather do! I cannot wait to get to know all your children and I am looking forward to many fun-filled days ahead. We have a lot of learning to do in second grade and I am certain that all of us working together are in for a successful school year! |
