Hello! I am so happy to be part of the United School District and I really enjoying teaching second grade. This is my fifth year with United and I am amazed each year with the friendliness and caring individuals I have met along the way. The students are a joy to work with and make me smile everyday! I cannot think of a more rewarding job than teaching!
I want to share a little about myself. I live in Orion with my husband, James, and my two orange cats, General and Julius. I have two children, but we are now empty nesters which has been an adjustment! Our oldest daughter, Hannah, graduated from St. Ambrose University in the spring and is working and living in Madison, Wisconsin. My son, Dwayne, just began his second year at the University of Iowa and is in the engineering program.
I graduated from Western Illinois University in 2003 with a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education. After graduating college, I taught first grade for two years at a private school. Later, I took graduate classes to become certified to teach Reading Recovery. I taught Reading Recovery for three years in Moline School District and also taught first grade in the district. I completed my Master's Degree in Curriculum and Instruction with an English as a second language emphasis from National Louis University, Chicago.
Below you will find a few photos of my children and my pets!
